The National Population Council (NPC), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, successfully held a high-level Partners Coordination Meeting on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) Policy Implementation and Advocacy to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders working to improve adolescent health outcomes in Ghana.
The meeting which was chaired by Dr. Angela El-Adas, Board Chair of the National Population Council brought together representatives from government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, youth groups, and the private sector to review progress made in implementing the Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy. Discussions focused on addressing persistent challenges faced by adolescents and young people, including early and unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, gender-based violence, and limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information and services.
Participants also examined gaps in policy implementation and emphasized the need for stronger coordination among partners to avoid duplication of efforts and promote more effective interventions. The meeting provided an important platform for stakeholders to align their initiatives, share experiences, and identify opportunities for joint action.
As a key outcome, partners agreed to strengthen collaboration, support coordinated advocacy efforts, and develop a roadmap for sustained engagement to accelerate the implementation of the ASRH Policy and improve the health and well-being of adolescents and young people across Ghana.
