On 1st April 2026, the National Population Council (NPC) hosted a delegation from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), led by Professor John Wendy Ansah. The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities between NPC and UCC to bridge theory and practice in population and development, enhance student career exposure, and promote awareness of NPC programs.
The delegation also invited NPC to participate in the Faculty’s Dean’s Awards ceremony on 14th May 2026, which recognizes outstanding student performance and fosters institutional partnerships.
Key areas discussed included strengthening academic linkages, providing career guidance sessions, developing joint programs, and introducing awards to honor excellence in academics, leadership, and community service. NPC was encouraged to support these initiatives through mentorship, sponsorship, and technical expertise.
Both parties also emphasized the importance of establishing a functional alumni network to maintain graduate connections and support student development initiatives.
NPC committed to offering internship opportunities, facilitating regional collaboration, and following up on initiatives such as the Centre for Population Health at Yamoransa.
The engagement marked a productive step toward a long-term partnership, aimed at enhancing research, knowledge exchange, and student empowerment in population and development.
